A POEM FOR OUR SADIE
By Grandpa Duane
To all in this life, dark clouds roll past.
Gifts that are cherished don’t always last.
The rarer the offering, the greater the pain,
And our gift from heaven we couldn’t retain.
The skeptic will tell you, “it’s just one of those things,
That happens to all people, both paupers and kings.”
But the skeptic is wrong, it isn’t all strife,
He knows nothing of heaven and little of life.
His view is that life is a look and a glance,
That all things that happen –dos so by chance.
He may never have learned or he just can’t recall,
That our Savior on Calvary died for us all.
This includes that rare treasure we held for a day,
With our prayer to our Father, “Please let her stay.”
But in the midst of our anguish like a banner unfurled,
Came the thought that our Sadie’s too good for this world.
She’s gone from our vision but not from our heart.
And nothing in life can keep us apart.
In our sadness and hurt, there’s a feeling sublime,
That our parting, though painful, is just for a time.
In the Father’s good time and through His great love,
We’ll be united with Sadie in heaven above.
This plan of our Father makes us all want to shout
And “Families Forever” is what it’s about!
There’s great joy in heaven where Sadie has flown,
For Chase, her big brother, is now-- not alone.
